En un correo electr\u00f3nico enviado el 21 de abril a funcionarios en Colorado, Oreg\u00f3n, Washington y el gobierno federal, Dan Reese, el presidente de Global SuperTanker, les dio la noticia: \u00ab<em>Esta semana, los inversionistas propietarios del Global SuperTanker me acaban de informar que han tomado la dif\u00edcil decisi\u00f3n de cesar las operaciones de la empresa, a partir de esta semana &#8230; Esto es extremadamente decepcionante ya que la aeronave se ha configurado y sintonizado con un nuevo sistema de ca\u00edda digital y otras actualizaciones para hacerlo m\u00e1s seguro y eficiente.<\/em>\u00ab<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reese dijo que est\u00e1n en conversaciones con posibles compradores, pero que en ese momento se desconoc\u00eda si la aeronave continuar\u00eda configur\u00e1ndose como un avi\u00f3n cisterna capaz de transportar m\u00e1s de 66.240 litros (17.500 galones) o si se transformar\u00eda a carguero.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mayor\u00eda de los empleados de la compa\u00f1\u00eda han sido suspendidos hasta que se conozca el destino del SuperTanker<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El invierno pasado en los Estados Unidos, el Tanker 944 pas\u00f3 varias semanas en Moses Lake, Washington, recibiendo mantenimiento de rutina y una conversi\u00f3n del sistema de entrega retardante de un controlador anal\u00f3gico a una versi\u00f3n digital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cuando se introdujo por primera vez, el 944 pod\u00eda transportar hasta 75.708 litros 20.000 galones). Luego, la FAA lo certific\u00f3 con 72.680 Litros (19.200 galones). M\u00e1s recientemente, se requiri\u00f3 que no transportara m\u00e1s de 66.240 litros (17,500 galones). El segundo avi\u00f3n cisterna de mayor capacidad es el Ilyushin IL-76 de fabricaci\u00f3n rusa pude llevar 43.812 litros (11,574 galones) y el DC-10 que hasta hace un par de a\u00f1os ten\u00eda permitido transportar hasta 43.910 litros (11,600 galones), ahora la FAA lo restringi\u00f3 solo a 36.340 litros (9,400 Galones).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La versi\u00f3n inicial del SuperTanker instalada por Evergreen en un Boeing 747-100 que realiz\u00f3 su primer combate de incendio hace 12 a\u00f1os en el complejo Railbelt en Alaska en 2009. Cuando Evergreen quebr\u00f3, Global SuperTanker compr\u00f3 el hardware y los derechos del sistema retardante y lo instalaron en el actual Boeing 747-400, matr\u00edcula N744ST, Tanker 944.\u00a0 El origen de N744ST se remonta al 11 de noviembre de 1991, cuando fue entregado a la aerol\u00ednea Japan Airlines (JAL), posteriormente fue convertido a carguero y matriculado como N492EV, y pintado como Evergreen International Airlines, pero no alcanzo a operar formalmente en esta l\u00ednea a\u00e9rea debido a la quiebra de la compa\u00f1\u00eda, posteriormente el 2016, paso a manos de Global SuperTanker, siendo matriculado como N744ST.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recordemos que el Global SuperTanker pas\u00f3 varias semanas trabajando en incendios en Chile durante el verano del 2017. Uno de sus r\u00e9cords operacionales, fue el 1 de febrero de 2017, trabajando desde Santiago, realiz\u00f3 un total de 11 lanzamientos en 7 salidas. Seis de las incursiones se realizaron cerca de Navidad y Matanzas 115 millas (185 km) al suroeste del aeropuerto de Santiago, donde muchas estructuras estaban amenazadas. El s\u00e9ptimo estaba cerca de Concepci\u00f3n, a 650 kil\u00f3metros al sur de Santiago. En total, durante la operaci\u00f3n del SuperTanker se entregaron 508.760 litros (138,400 galones) para asistir a los bomberos en tierra.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery
