{"id":17628,"date":"2024-09-26T21:36:30","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T01:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.delphosmagazine.com\/?p=17628"},"modified":"2024-09-26T21:36:30","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T01:36:30","slug":"la-era-del-mcdonnell-douglas-kc-10-extender-llega-a-su-fin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.delphosmagazine.com\/en\/la-era-del-mcdonnell-douglas-kc-10-extender-llega-a-su-fin\/","title":{"rendered":"La era del McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender llega a su fin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hoy 25 de septiembre del 2024, despu\u00e9s de 44 a\u00f1os de operaciones, la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de los Estados Unidos retira el \u00faltimo de sus McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El dise\u00f1o del KC-10 se bas\u00f3 en el McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30CF.\u00a0 Las modificaciones incluyeron un sistema de manejo de carga mejorado, avi\u00f3nica militar y el sistema de reabastecimiento de combustible, sin embargo, el KC-10 mantuvo un 88% de similitud con el modelo comercial, lo que le dio un mayor acceso al sistema de soporte comercial mundial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Con respecto al sistema de reabastecimiento, se a\u00f1adi\u00f3 el brazo de reabastecimiento dise\u00f1ado por McDonnell Douglas y tanques de combustible adicionales ubicados en los compartimentos de equipaje debajo de la cubierta principal, dichos tanques adicionales aumentaron la capacidad de combustible del KC-10 a 161.478 kg, casi duplicando la capacidad del KC-135.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El KC-10 tiene un brazo de reabastecimiento de combustible en la l\u00ednea central, \u00fanico en el sentido de que tiene un sistema de superficie de control en su extremo. El operador del brazo del KC-10 est\u00e1 sentado en la parte trasera de la aeronave con una amplia ventana para monitorear el reabastecimiento de combustible en lugar de estar boca abajo como en el KC-135. A dem\u00e1s pose el sistema de drogue, lo que le permite reabastecer a los aviones de la Fuerza A\u00e9rea, la Armada, y el Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos, junto con los aviones de las \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El brazo de reabastecimiento puede suministrar combustible a una velocidad m\u00e1xima de 4.180 litros por minuto, mientras que el sistema de drogue de la l\u00ednea central tiene una velocidad m\u00e1xima de descarga de combustible de 1.786 litros por minuto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adem\u00e1s de sus caracter\u00edsticas de avi\u00f3n de reabastecimiento, el KC-10 puede transportar una dotaci\u00f3n de 75 personas con 66.225 kg de carga, o 77.110 kg en una configuraci\u00f3n exclusivamente de carga, teniendo una autonom\u00eda de 7.040 km.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El KC-10 Extender vol\u00f3 por primera vez en julio de 1980 y en octubre del mismo a\u00f1o se realiz\u00f3 la primera prueba de reabastecimiento a\u00e9reo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se fabricaron un total de 60 KC-10 para la USAF, sin embargo, la Real Fuerza A\u00e9rea de los Pa\u00edses Bajos oper\u00f3 dos aviones cisterna similares, denominados KDC-10, que fueron convertidos a partir de los DC-10.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-17628 gallery-columns-3 \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Durante sus 44 a\u00f1os de servicio el KC-10 Extender desempe\u00f1\u00f3 un papel clave en operaciones de transporte a\u00e9reo y reabastecimiento de combustible durante el bombardeo de Libia en 1986, la Guerra del Golfo de 1990- 1991 con Irak (Operaciones Escudo del Desierto y Tormenta del Desierto), el bombardeo de Yugoslavia por la OTAN (Operaci\u00f3n Fuerza Aliada), la Guerra en Afganist\u00e1n (Operaci\u00f3n Libertad Duradera) y la Guerra de Irak (Operaciones Libertad Iraqu\u00ed y Nuevo Amanecer).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hoy 25 de septiembre 2024, en la base a\u00e9rea Travis de la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de los Estados unidos, hogar de la 60.\u00ba Air Mobility Wing y al 349.\u00ba Air Mobility Wing, en una ceremonia organizados por el Coronel Jay Johnson, comandante del 60.\u00ba AMW, fue despedido oficialmente el \u00faltimo de los McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender, matr\u00edcula 79-1948.\u00a0 Al final de la ceremonia, el KC-10 despeg\u00f3 del base Travis Air Force Base, (SUU \/ KSUU).\u00a0 Despu\u00e9s de despegar, el KC-10 realiz\u00f3 una pasada baja acompa\u00f1ado de 2 F-15C, posteriormente, realiz\u00f3 una pasada sobre el aeropuerto de Long Beach California, donde estaba la fabrica de McDonnell Douglas desde la cual 79-1948 sali\u00f3 en enero del 1996, para finalizar su \u00faltimo vuelo en la Base Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMA \/ KDMA), en Tucson, Arizona, donde se unir\u00e1 a otros 55 KC-10, que actualmente se encuentran estado de \u201cAlmacenamiento Prolongado\u201d (Long Term Storage).<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-3' class='gallery galleryid-17628 gallery-columns-2 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">EL dise\u00f1o \u00fanico del KC-10 Extender, imposibilito una remotorizaci\u00f3n para darle mayor vida \u00fatil, como el caso del KC-135, cuyas variantes actuales utilizan motores CFM-56 m\u00e1s eficientes en el consumo de combustible, en comparaci\u00f3n con los antiguos Pratt &amp; Whitney JT-8 turbojet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En Chile, hemos tenido varias veces la oportunidad de ver al KC-10 Extender en FIDAE, la \u00faltima vez, no hace mucho en FIDAE 2024.<\/p>\n<div
